There’s More to Orlando Than Theme Parks

Orlando is rightfully known for its top attractions Disney World and Universal, but there is much more to the Central Florida vacation destination than its theme parks. While the theme parks are more than worthy of a visit, vacationers would be missing out by not looking into some of the other activities found throughout the Orlando metro area.

The Tibet-Butler Nature Preserve is a small 440-acre nature preserve allowing visitors to take a glimpse into the natural scenery of Florida. Escape the crowds and intense heat of the afternoon sun for a relaxing and shady walk through this quiet preserve. Peaceful views of Lake Tibet-Butler along with beautiful flatwoods and wetlands provide the perfect setting for a scenic stroll.

Winter Park, FL is located about 20 minutes north of Orlando and is the perfect place for a quick day trip. The town is quaint and small, but doesn’t lack for activities and attractions. The Scenic Boat Tour company offers boat rides through Winter Park’s chain of lakes and canals where guests can see extravagant waterfront mansions, lush greenery, and plenty of wildlife.

The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art houses the world’s largest collection of Tiffany glass and is the perfect way to spend a day while visiting Orlando. Also located in Winter Park, the museum is an affordable and fun way to experience one of America’s most prolific and accomplished contemporary artists.

As you stroll around Orlando, you can take advantage of great shopping, great dining, and also great parks and gardens. At Harry P. Leu Gardens, you will have the opportunity to stroll around beautifully landscaped gardens filled with tropical plants.

If you are up for a little longer drive (about an hour from Orlando), the Kennedy Space Center is a great place to explore with friends and family. Visitors can explore NASA’s launch complex, the astronaut hall of fame, or maybe even witness a rocket launch. Tickets and packages to the Kennedy Space Center can be found here.
