If you’ve been on a cruise before or even if this is your first time cruising, you’re most likely aware of the countless activities and avenues for entertainment offered while on board. You’ll find no shortage of ways to keep you and your family occupied while cruising the open seas. However, the cruise experience affords so much more opportunity for memorable adventures in the form of shore excursions.
When booking a cruise, you’ll undoubtedly factor in the itinerary for the trip before purchasing your tickets. The ports of call (or stops along the way) can vary depending on the length of cruise, but regardless of how many places the ship will dock, you’ll want to take advantage of the destinations.
Shore excursions can be arranged through the cruise line you will be sailing with, but we recommend utilizing your exclusive membership benefits with us and booking through Shore Excursions. Not only will you save money on the adventures, but you will also be able to take advantage of smaller group sizes and unique experiences not offered by the cruise line.
There are generally three tiers of excursion sizes available:
Private Shore Excursions allow you to travel with your party alone and, in many cases, to fully customize your shore tour. For groups of 4 or more, they can usually arrange a private shore excursion for less than the cost of a large cruise line tour.
Small Group Shore Excursions generally range in size from 2-20 people, providing a more personalized experience than the large excursions offered by the cruise lines.
Standard Shore Excursions typically range from 20-50 people. These tours are similar in size to those of the cruise lines. While these day excursions are larger in size, the focus on quality remains extremely high.
Depending on the cruise and where you are traveling, there will most likely be several options for excursions once at port. Here are some examples of cruise excursion types:
Scenic Shore Excursions provide up close and personal access to some of the most spectacular natural environments on Earth.
Cultural Shore Excursions allow you to experience the customs, heritage, and local flavor of the destinations.
Active Shore Excursions offer a multitude of exciting and adventurous experiences.
Water/Beach Shore Excursions provide unique ways to enjoy the ocean, beach, and sea life.
Culinary Shore Excursions allow you to sample the local culinary delights.
Regardless of how you choose to experience the various offerings at the ports along your cruise route, you’re sure to have a great time, make great memories, and probably even learn a few things about the place you’re visiting. Contact a travel concierge or submit a travel request today.
